Neon Sign Anatomy

For neon signs, we do two main kind of installs: on a backing or directly on the wall. For the former, neon signs mounted on a backing are just like any framed pictures, they are easy to move & install by yourself! For the latter, neon signs mounted directly to the wall is cleaner and more permanent; one can also choose to hardwire the sign to a switch.

We can also mount the neon on faux foliages, which had been an increasingly popular option lately. Please see the bottom of this section for photo examples.

Please note that for acrylic backings, our default is clear acrylic, but we can also mount on all other colors available.

Power Supply Specs

All power supplies we use are UL certified. Please reach out to us directly if you want more details.

Magnetic Transformer (self-enclosed & outdoor type)

Pro: Lasts longer than the electronic transformer. Can be hardwired and hid within building structure. Specific model can be placed outdoor.
Con: Need licensed electrician to install. More expensive. Very heavy, can only be placed within panels or mounted on studs/structures.
Dimensions: 14.4" x 8" x 4.7", 21 lbs
Input Power: 120 VAC, 2.35 ~ 3.6A
Output Power: 9000 ~ 15000V, 30mA

Standard Electronic Transformer

Pro: Cheapest option, decently small scale, comes with a pull-chain to turn the neon on and off. Can be easily replaced if broken. Self Adjusting to neon load. Auto Shutdown & Overload Protection.
Con: lasts about 3-7 years depending on usage. Indoor use only. Not dimmable.
Dimensions: 6.2" x 3.8" x 1.85" (Model 12000-30) or 5.8" x 2.6" x 1.7 (Model 9000-30)
Input Power: 120VAC 50/60Hz 0.9A (Model 12000-30) or 120VAC 50/60Hz 0.75A (Model 9000-30)
Output Power: 8kV 30mA (Model 12000-30) or 6.5kV 30mA (Model 9000-30)
Warranty: One year.

Mini Electronic Transformer

Pro: Tiny, can be easily hidden under the sign itself. Can come with control input for animating neons.
Con: Lasts shorter than standard electronic transformer, and more expensive. Not dimmable. Indoor only. Less powerful than the standard.
Dimensions: 4.00" x 1.40" x 0.90"
Input Power: 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 0.66 A max
Output Power: 8KV AC 20mA max. Actual voltage depends on load and will be equal to or lower than this value.

Dimmable Electronic Transformer

Pro: Dimmable/Flashing. Self Adjusting to neon load. Pull-Chain trigger + Onboard Dimming knob and Flashing knob.
Con: Lasts shorter than standard electronic transformer, and more expensive. Not dimmable.

Input Power: 120vt/60hz - 2.36 Amp
Output Power: 12,000vt - 42mA

Following are some recommended font styles that best renders the charm of neon, and they are listed below for options and inspirations. You are also welcomed to send your designs, especially hand writings, over and let our designers convert your vision into neon.

Please note that each different font styles have their minimum size which we can bend the neons at, a general rule of thumb is 3" tall for the smallest character.
